Of the many loan signings plying their trade at Leeds United, centre-back Ben White has certainly been one of the standout performers in Marcelo Bielsa's side.

The 21-year-old's form has brought him to the attention of current Premier League leaders Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp's side considering a January move for the £20 million-valued player, according to reports via the Daily Mail.

So is it surprising that Liverpool are considering a move for White?

We discuss.........

Sam Rourke

"I'm really not surprised.

"White has been exceptional since arriving at Elland Road in the summer on loan from the Seagulls, with him proving to be a more than able replacement for Pontus Jansson for the Whites.

"He looks incredibly comfortable on the ball, has an excellent passing skill-set and is strong in the tackles, and at the age of just 21, he's already looking like a season pro at the heart of the Leeds defence.

"You feel the defender has all the makings of a Premier League footballer, and it's not surprising to see Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool take a fancy in the Brighton loanee - he would make n ideal replacement for Dejan Lovren, who looks set to be coming to the end of his spell at Anfield."

Josh Cole

“Whilst Ben White has unquestionably experienced a superb start to life at Leeds United, it is somewhat of a surprise that Liverpool are monitoring his progress.

“Although the 22-year-old possesses a wide array of skills, it could be argued that a move to the Reds in the not too distant future could be detrimental for his career.

“With Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip currently occupying the centre-back positions for the Reds, White is unlikely to play regularly for Liverpool.

“Taking this into consideration, he may find it beneficial to stay at Brighton & Hove Albion or even seek a permanent switch to Leeds once his loan deal expires.”

George Harbey

“It doesn’t surprise me to see White linked with a move to Anfield - he has been absolutely tremendous since signing for Leeds.

“When he first signed, I didn’t think he was an improvement on Pontus Jansson, but he’s playing his best football under Bielsa and is arguably a better player than the Sweden international.

“He’s calm on the ball, he can play out from the back with ease, he’s a tall, commanding centre-half and he is destined to play right at the top.

“It’s unlikely that he’d get game-time at Liverpool right now, but he could be an excellent player to have in the future as a long-term replacement for Dejan Lovren.”
