Former Bristol City boss Lee Johnson is in advanced talks with Sunderland about becoming their new Head Coach, according to Sky Sports.
The Stadium of Light outfit have been searching for a new manager following the departure of Phil Parkinson last Sunday.
Ex-Huddersfield Town and Lincoln City man Dan Cowley appeared the overriding favourite to be appointed, whilst the likes of Guy Poyet, Sol Campbell and Nigel Pearson were also mentioned.
However, Keith Downie believes that 39-year-old, who has been out of work since he was sacked by the Robins in July, has been in the North East for ‘face-to-face’ talks with the Black Cats’ hierarchy, and an official announcement could be made either tomorrow or even later tonight.
If Johnson is chosen, he most likely wouldn’t be in charge of Sunderland’s game against Wigan tomorrow afternoon, but there’s a possibility he could be in the stands at the Stadium of Light.
Here, we’ve been looking at how the Sunderland faithful have been reacting to Downie’s update on Johnson’s imminent appointment, and judging by some of the replies, it appears to be mixed.

Not really happy with that appointment. He will not get us promoted!

I’m optimistic about this appointment, here’s hoping it doesn’t come back to bite me!
