The transfer of Matej Vydra seemed to dominate the summer chatter, with Leeds United heavily linked with a move for the Derby forward.

There only seemed to be one likely outcome as the deal edged closer, but then it suddenly collapsed.

There was a disagreement over personal terms, with the Leeds owner stating he was unconvinced the player wanted to move to Elland Road.

The reported £11m fee was ultimately saved, with Leeds paying considerably less for Patrick Bamford. He's even struggling to get a game for them at the minute, suggesting the Vydra deal collapse was a positive for Marcelo Bielsa's side.

FLW asked a selection of Leeds fans if they were disappointed in missing out on the 26-year old Czech, who bagged 22 goals for the Rams the previous season. 64% were not disappointed, which seems to echo the thoughts of our FLW experts.

I think it's unsurprising.

He didn't exactly cover himself in glory over the summer and now he is struggling to play for Burnley.

At the moment, it seems as though he has made the error here and not Leeds United.

I'm not surprised by this.

At the time, most Leeds fans were desperate to see the lethal striker join their club, with him even being spotted in Leeds.

However, Leeds opted for Patrick Bamford instead and you get the feeling most fans have moved on from the Vydra saga now.

I personally don’t think Leeds fans are regretting the decision considering Kemar Roofe is on a good run of form and they currently site atop the Championship table.

If the club had a poor start and strikers were not on form, then there would be a case to suggest missing out on Matej Vydra was a mistake.

Should Roofe dip in form, Patrick Bamford is chomping at the bit to take his place.

But having done well, that isn’t an issue right now, as long as Leeds’ forwards continue their current run of form
