Coventry City manager Mark Robins has had his plans for next season disrupted amidst a report in the print edition of The Sun on Sunday (June 9, Page 59) that both West Ham and Aston Villa are interested in signing midfielder Tom Bayliss this summer.

Bayliss has been a regular for Robins this season, with three goals and three assists in 40 appearances in all competitions and is highly rated, having appeared for England at Under-19 level.

But is Bayliss ready for the step up to the Premier League?

We discuss.........

Kealan Hughes

"Right now I don't think he is ready for the step-up.

"However that doesn't mean Premier League clubs shouldn't take a chance on him. He has done really well so far in his short career, and has loads of room for improvement.

"If he gets the opportunity he could make an impression. That is less likely next year but in a few years time he could become a first team regular."

Gary Hutchinson

“No, not yet.

“He’s got potential, nothing more at present.

“I couldn’t see him in the top flight, it’s one step too far I’m afraid.

“It might be wiser if he went to the Championship, or if he does join Villa or West Ham, if he goes out on loan.”

Toby Wilding

"I'm not sure he is yet.

"Bayliss has only had two years of senior football in his career - one in League Two and one in League One.

"As impressive as he has been, the Premier League is a big step up from that, and at just 20-years-old, he has plenty of time to make his way to the top tier, so risking him reputation on a move there now just doesn't seem necessary."

George Brooks

"Bayliss is one of the most promising players in League One.

"He definitely could have a big future ahead of him and could become a top player.

"I’m not sure if he’s ready for the Premier League just yet and he definitely isn’t good enough to start for West Ham or Villa every week, but he’s definitely one to watch for the future and could be a good signing for either team."
