West Brom manager Darren Moore has spoken out about the prospects for winger Oliver Burke following the arrival of free agent Bakary Sako at the club, as reported in The Express & Star.

Sako 30, has signed until the end of the season having left Crystal palace in the summer and will provide immediate competition for 21-year-old Burke who has struggled to make his mark in his second season with the Baggies following his move from RB Leipzig.

Moore said: "In terms of those two players, they're in the thick of the squad. I want them fit so they're ready if called upon."

Moore is effectively suggesting that Burke still has a role to play in his side, but do you truly believe him?

That could just be to appease Oliver Burke.

The former Nottingham Forest man has barely featured this term for the Baggies and with Sako coming in, his chances of first-team football look to have diminished even more.

Darren Moore will say that to keep Burke interested but come January, you can imagine he will exit the Hawthorns.

Sako’s signing is surely a nail in the coffin of Burke’s West Brom career.

It’s not going to be positive for him, is it?

I can’t understand the situation with Burke at all.

He’s still young and can save his career, but I think a spell away from the limelight might help.

League One maybe on loan? Do a Nick Powell.

George Harbey

It’s good to see Moore say this - Burke really hasn’t been given a chance this season or at West Brom for that matter, despite being a fantastic player at this level as proven at Forest.

He deserves a chance to impress as does Sako.

George Dagless

I'm not sure.

If a loan offer comes in during the January transfer window, surely West Brom will be accepting it.

Burke needs to be playing but it looks as though he has been knocked another place down the pecking order.

This statement from Darren Moore came as a real surprise to me.

I’ve always rated Burke highly, since he was at Forest and when he moved to RB Leibzig, but he hasn’t hit the ground running at West Brom and I feel as though he could benefit from a loan at this stage of his career to get regular playing time.

Especially as Bakary Sako has arrived at the club and I’m sure we are more likely to see the pacy, powerful winger more often than we will see Burke.
