Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has begun the re-building process at Old Trafford, with Swansea City winger Daniel James now confirmed as the first signing of the Solskjaer era, as confirmed on the club website.

James, 21, enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season at the Liberty Stadium under Graham Potter, scoring four goals and making seven assists in 34 appearances in all competitions.

But has James shown enough for Swansea to be a regular starter at United?

We discuss........

Kealan Hughes

"He has shown that he is a quality player, but there is a huge difference between the Championship and Man Utd.

"From what he has shown at Swansea he would be a brilliant option from the bench. He has unbelievable pace and has the odd goal in him and that could work very well at Old Trafford next season.

"James has a lot of improvement to do if he is to challenge the likes of Rashford and Juan Mata for a place in the team, but if he continues to progress as he has done so far then he could be starting before long."

Alfie Burns

"I’m expecting some high-profile departures at Old Trafford this summer, so given that, yes.

"Solskjaer is clearly shaking things up this summer and the fact he’s targeting players like James says to me that the side are heading in a different direction to where they were previously.

"Even a club like Man United don’t splash £18m on a transfer and then not play him."

Gary Hutchinson

“Nope, not at all.

“I’ve been quite vocal and perhaps have come across a bit ‘anti’ James, but I just don’t see it.

“There has been a clamour around the lad, a furious appreciation society has grown up and I’m not sure why.

“I can’t see him impressing at Man Utd. I do hope I’m wrong, I like Solskjaer and would love to see them back where they used to be.”

George Brooks

"I’m not sure, but I really hope so.

"James is a very promising young player and I’m really pleased that he’s got his big move to Manchester United – I just hope he gets his chance in the first-team at Old Trafford next season.

"He could be good enough to make the step up to a team like Manchester United, but he needs to be playing regular football in order to fulfil his potential.

"I personally feel that he deserves a chance, but whether or not Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will agree is a different matter."
