Chelsea are rivalling Arsenal to the potential signing of Reading youngster, Danny Loader according to Goal.

Loader has been hugely impressive for the Royals this season, and has 22 appearances to his name after breaking into Jose Gomes' side.

He netted his first senior league goal in a defeat to Middlesbrough, with a stunning strike from distance to give Gomes' men the lead on the day.

Loader has also represented England at youth level, and is highly-rated at the Madejski Stadium.

But with one-year left on his current deal with the club, it seems likely that his long-term future could be away from the Berkshire-based club.

It remains to be seen as to whether their is concrete interest from the Blues in particular, with the club currently undergoing a transfer ban.

An interesting summer awaits, and it surely won't be the last we hear of a rumour linking Loader with a move away.

But would he be a good signing for Chelsea?

We discuss...

Louie Chandler:

"This seems like a strange move.

"Chelsea's academy is already jam-packed with promising attackers, so why go out and buy one from another club?

"Loader is clearly very talented but it is just an unnecessary move that would benefit neither party."

Ben Lang:

"Loader would be a good signing for any top Premier League club in the future.

"He has delivered a string of promising performances at the Madejski Stadium this season, and looks to be someone who could reach the very top.

"However, I worry that he will spend too much time out on loan at Chelsea. It would make sense to send him back to Reading initially, but I think he needs to join a club where he can at least see his path into the first-team."

Jacob Potter:

"I'm not convinced this is the best place for him.

"There's no doubting that Loader is one of the brightest young talents in English football, but Chelsea haven't exactly got the best track record when it comes to bringing youth players through to the first-team.

"If I was Loader, I'd be looking elsewhere for a move, as his potential would take a real hit if he joined the Blues."
