Barnsley have today confirmed the appointment of Jose Morais as the club's new head-coach.

The 52-year-old arrives at Oakwell with an impressive CV, having worked alongside Jose Mourinho at the likes of Chelsea and Inter Milan.

Good appointment for the Tykes? Can he keep them up?

We discuss....

George Dagless

It's a risk for sure.

Of course, he could be a real astute appointment but he doesn't have much in the way of experience in the Championship.

Nevertheless he's got quite the CV as an assistant so far in his career so let's see how he does with the ambitious Tykes.

Sam Preston

He certainly has good pedigree as an assistant manager.

He's been number two at Porto, Inter, Real Madrid and Chelsea but the clubs he has managed have been less illustrious.

People will ask what he knows about English football and relegation battles but I like it when teams take a left-field punt and do something a little different.

It's obviously too soon to tell if he'll keep Barnsley up but it gives an insight into the new owners' vision.

Alfie Burns

This is a risk by Barnsley, but they needed to get someone in as soon as possible.

Morais has a good track record as an assistant, but whether he can cut it in the Championship’s relegation fight remains to be seen.

Barnsley need results quickly, but I’m not convinced this appointment will bring them.
