Bristol City are reportedly interested in signing Aston Villa's Scott Hogan in the summer, as part of a major overhaul at Ashton Gate.

Lee Johnson's men were interested in signing the 26-year old on loan in January, but the striker snubbed the Robins in favour of a move to promotion-chasing Sheffield United.

Hogan has since scored just one goal in five appearances for the Blades, rounding off what has been a disappointing couple of seasons for the Republic of Ireland international after his move from Brentford to Villa Park.

Here, we discuss whether Hogan would be a good signing for Bristol City...

George Harbey

"Two years ago, yes, but not now though.

"Hogan was exceptional for Brentford, but a move to Villa came too soon for him in my view.

"A fresh start could potentially get him back to his best, but people thought that when he signed for Sheffield United on loan. He's hardly set the world alight at Bramall Lane since moving there."

Toby Wilding

"Chances have been short for the striker in recent times, so this could be a good opportunity for the 26-year-old.

"He has shown in the past that he can compete at this level, and will be determined to make his point should this move happen, having failed to live up to expectations in recent seasons."

Louie Chandler

"I'm not convinced.

"Hogan's move to Villa seems to have left him completely bereft of any confidence in front of goal.

"For where Bristol City are aiming to get to, I think they need to be looking for a more accomplished front man."
