Bristol City have had a mediocre season so far in the Championship, sitting in 11th place, some 11 points off new leaders Norwich City, with over a third of the season gone.

Defeat to lowly Preston at the weekend, typified the Robins' 'in and out' form and made it three defeats in a row for Lee Johnson's side.

So, it is fair to say has Lee Johnson taken Bristol City as far as he can?

It's up for debate.

There's more to come from the Robins because they have a decent squad but results are not reflecting that.

He should get time to turn things around but there is a slight growth of concern right now.

I'm getting that feeling.

Johnson has done a great job at Bristol City over the last few seasons, and has taken them to heights they have not achieved before.

But, things are somewhat stale at Ashton Gate at the moment, with the Robins struggling to maintain any sort of consistency.

A few more losses, and Johnson's job is under threat.

It’s a tough one - they are such a strange club in the sense that they might go and win 6 games in a row and still finish about 10th.

Preston at home is a game that they really should have been winning if they were to prove that they are capable of mounting a playoff push, but that obviously never happened.

It looks on the surface that they are just a typical Championship club - very up and down.

This year hasn’t been as good as their previous campaign, but with the squad at Lee Johnson’s disposal, the Bristol City boss is still very much the right man for the job.

If the club were to get rid of him, who, realistically, is there to take over and do a better job?
