Steve Bruce was left frustrated last night, with Aston Villa failing to capitalise on an opportunity to move back into the Sky Bet Championship's top-two.

Villa were held to a 1-1 draw by Preston North End, with Lewis Grabban stepping off the bench to roll in a second-half penalty, which cancelled out Tom Barkhuizen’s first-half opener.

The Villans were far from their best, particularly going forward, with Robert Snodgrass axed at half-time and Bruce already missing Jack Grealish and Albert Adomah, who have been ruled out of Villa’s last two Championship fixtures due to injury.

Without Grealish and Adomah, Villa’s side had a very different look to the one that took the Championship by storm at the start of 2018, with Josh Onomah one man filling in for the duo.
