‘I’m convinced now’ – Many Sheffield Wednesday fans react to Tony Pulis comment involving Sheffield United

Tony Pulis has addressed the press for the first time since becoming Sheffield Wednesday manager.

The former Stoke City, West Brom and Crystal Palace boss replaced Garry Monk following the Owls’ poor start to the Championship season.

Whilst he began work on the training pitch this morning, his first game in charge is at Preston on Saturday – which could see the Hillsborough outfit climb out of the relegation-zone with three points.

But Pulis’ appointment as manager didn’t appear a popular choice with the Wednesday faithful.

However, the 62-year-old went some way to getting the Owls supporters on his side with one line in particular in Monday afternoon’s press-conference – taking a major swipe at Wednesday’s rivals Sheffield United.

In what year was Sheffield Wednesday formed?

Pulis’ message was clear to the fans. He told Yorkshire Live: “When you look at the football club and enormous following they get, no disrespect to Sheffield United, but if you got this club into the Premier League it would be the biggest club in Sheffield.”

Unsurprisingly, that one comment went down a treat with Wednesday fans – with many joking that he’s already changed their minds about his appointment.
