Ipswich Town’s latest signing Jonathan Parr says he will try and convince his former Crystal Palace team-mate Jonny Williams to return to Portman Road.
Parr penned a two-year contract with the Tractor Boys yesterday afternoon following his release by the Eagles, with the 25 year-old defender expected to fill the gap left by Aaron Cresswell’s departure to West Ham United.
The Norwegian international told the club’s official website that Williams was one of the first people he spoke to upon hearing of Ipswich’s interest as the midfielder had spent time on loan with the Championship side last season.
The Welsh international is tied down to a long-term contract at Selhurst Park but his future at the club is uncertain with manager Tony Pulis yet to decide whether or not the man nicknamed ‘Joniesta’, after Spain and Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta, is in his first-team plans.
Parr said: “I spoke to Jonny Williams, who was here on loan last season of course, and he couldn’t speak highly enough of the club.
“Maybe I can get him to join me. I’ll give it a go. It could be fun!”
