‘I’ll pay for his flight’, ‘Good news’ – These Sheffield Wednesday fans react as player linked with transfer exit

Sheffield Wednesday could be set to lose one of their contracted players very early in the transfer window as Julian Borner is attracting interest from his native Germany.

That’s according to Bild (via YorkshireLive), who are reporting that 2. Bundesliga outfit Hannover have made an offer to bring the 30-year-old back home following the Owls’ relegation to League One.

Darren Moore released many senior players and big earners from the books once the club’s third tier status was confirmed, but several talents remained under contract for next season and beyond.

Borner is one of them and aside from injuries he’s been a general mainstay in the Wednesday side in the two years he’s been at Hillsborough for.

Did each of these 20 players ever score a goal whilst on loan at Sheffield Wednesday?

With the issues currently going on at the club though surrounding the non-payment of player wages, there’s a chance that Borner and his team-mates could end up walking out on the club if they hand their notices in.

That would scupper Dejphon Chansiri’s chances of getting a transfer fee for the experienced centre-back, and with just he and Chey Dunkley on the books in their position right now it is an area of concern going into the summer.
