Reading’s Sone Aluko hasn’t made a match day squad all season – but is it worth Mark Bowen taking a punt on the forgotten forward?
Bowen came into Reading earlier in the season and gave a host of exiled players their return to action – Gareth McCleary, Chris Gunter and Charlie Adam were a few who’ve been rediscovered at the club.
One who’s name hasn’t been banded around until now though, is Aluko’s.
The Nigerian was on-loan in the Chinese Super League this year but he’s since returned to the area, and he’s been spotted by a few keen-eyed Reading fans in and around the area.
He was a feared striker once upon a time but that time has long gone, and Aluko hasn’t featured all season for his club.

Reading have plenty of attackers but few have really lit up the Madejski yet this season, so is it worth a punt on Aluko?

Be interesting to see if Bowen takes a punt on him in Jan…..I suspect he’ll be sold if at all possible, but it would be intriguing to see what Bowen would do with him!

Seen him shopping in Waitrose Sunningdale a couple of times recently so he must be back in the area / training with Reading

Was quite excited when he signed. Such a shame he never performed like he was capable of consistently. The few games he played well he was the class of the field

I rented him a Van about 3 weeks ago 😂

Really cant see any harm in him having a shot, better than G Mac and Meite, if he gets form like he did when he was at Fulham
