It's not been the best start for Reading in the Championship this season as they look to go one better than last year and earn promotion to the Premier League.

The men from the Madejski will certainly have felt that with just a bit more luck they could have gotten themselves into the top flight come the end of this campaign but so far, things just haven't gone their way.

For sure, you can't just blame luck, either, Jaap Stam's men just haven't looked as good as they were last season and so they need to change things around sooner rather than later.

Certainly, then, the Dutch manager will be thinking of ways to do that ahead of Brentford this weekend and many fans seem to think Sam Smith deserves a crack after his latest U23 performance - which he posted about on Twitter.
