Sheffield Wednesday are yet to really get going this summer and there is growing concern about that fact.

The Owls, when everyone is fit, have a good squad and can give anyone a game in the Championship.

However, they do need to add some quality to build on the strong finish they had to last season and so far they seem limited in being able to do so.

Finances are on the mind, then, and if cost cutting is what the club needs to do this summer they are going to have to start in attack.

Wednesday have a lot of options up top but they can't play all of them.

Whilst their injury record last year meant that the Owls ended up fielding most of them at some point during the season, you'd surely argue that not all are good enough to be helping them challenge for promotion.

Certainly, they'd be better off trying to get some funds from sales and then utilising the loan market more for upgrades.

It's a tough situation Wednesday are in, clearly. They have a large squad on decent wages and not all of the players they'd want rid of are going to attract interest.

However, if they can try and at least show some the door for some cash in return, that would be a start.

It's an unenviable task, though.
