Rudy Gestede would be a useful addition for a number of Premier League sides because of the aerial ability he possesses.

The 6'4'' target man striker always poses a problem for defences when the ball is in the air due to his physical presence, height and tremendous leap.

Although Aston Villa would like to hold onto him, it would be tough for the 28-year-old to turn down another chance at Premier League football, especially as Aston Villa are struggling in the second tier and look unlikely to make an immediate return to the top flight at this stage.

Aston Villa have a number of alternative striker options in Jonathan Kodjia, Ross McCormack and Jordan Ayew but losing Rudy Gestede would still be a blow because of the alternative option he provides.

The Villains would need to find a target man to replace the Benin international.

Here are THREE similar types of strikers that Steve Bruce could look at in January if Gestede is sold...

Wout Weghorst

Cardiff and Celtic have previously tried to sign towering centre forward Wout Weghorst, and he might be the answer to Villa's problems if Gestede leaves.

The former Netherlands youth player made a switch from Heracles to AZ Alkmaar in the summer and he has been prolific wherever he has played in Holland.

With 4 goals in 7 for AZ, he has added to his 20 in 64 that he got at Heracles and perhaps he could try to replicate this form in the English leagues.

Adam Szalai

Adam Szalai lead the line for Hungary at Euro 2016 and could be a very useful addition to Steve Bruce's squad in January.

The 28-year-old has only featured three times (scoring once) for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga and spent a spell last season on loan at Hannover 96, highlighting the fact that he's a fringe player.

The 6 ft 4 striker would be a like-for-like Gestede replacement.

Peter Crouch

With Peter Crouch becoming an increasingly peripheral figure at Stoke City, he could opt for a move to the Championship in January.

The 35-year-old is renowned for his 6'7'' frame and his ability to score headers but he is also very handy with the ball at his feet too.

The former England international could return to Aston Villa, where he spent a two-year spell in the early 2000's, and he has plenty to offer still in the Championship.
