Reading have endured a very tough campaign however the poor form of the sides below them should mean the Royals remain in the Championship this season.

After missing out on promotion to the Premier League on penalties 11 months ago, many fancied Jaap Stam's side to put up another strong fight towards the top of the table.

However, it hasn't happened, with the Berkshire club struggling from the start and eventually replacing the Dutch manager with Paul Clement.

Under the former Derby boss there have been mixed results but ultimately it appears he has done enough to keep the Royals in the Championship, as they boast a five-point lead over 22nd with just two games to play.

Yet, he will have already realised just how much work needs to done to get the side back competing for promotion again.

Here we look at four players he'd be keen to bring in if he was given a large budget...

Having gone up as champions, Wolves may consider selling some squad players and you only have to look at Millwall who have Jed Wallace, George Saville and Ben Marshall to see there is quality on the fringes at Molineux.

One man who would seriously benefit Reading is Batth. The centre-back is physically imposing and a very dominant defender.

He makes the odd mistake but he would be a great partner for Liam Moore in defence to give the Royals a solid base that hasn't been there this season.

With Jordan Obita injured, left-back has been a problem position and whilst he will come back next season, they still need cover and Clement may consider using him further forward.

Therefore, he may be interested in going to his former club Derby for Marcus Olsson. He knows the defender very well having brought him to Pride Park, so clearly rates him.

Dack has had a sensational season for Blackburn Rovers, and has been a fundamental reason behind their promotion to the Championship.

Reading could do with Dack's tenacity and creativity in their side.

The key position for Reading to recruit this summer is up top, with Jon Dadi Bodvarsson the top scoring striker with just seven.

To highlight how bad that is, Jordan Hugill has scored eight Championship goals despite leaving Preston in January.

However, it hasn't worked out for him at West Ham and a move in the summer seems inevitable. The Royals should once again be in for the target man.
