Nottingham Forest made the rest of the Championship stand up and take notice during the last round of second tier fixtures, comprehensively running out 4-0 winners over a Queens Park Rangers side who had beaten the division's top two in their previous couple of fixtures.

The Reds laid down a marker for the rest of the campaign with the rout over Ian Holloway's side and their supporters will be hoping that the corner has now been turned after a somewhat inconsistent start to the 2017/18 campaign.

In previous years the Reds have struggled to keep a full quota of players fit and certainly last season the Reds were missing influential members of their team for large parts of the campaign.

This saw Forest come narrowly close to dropping into League One at the end of the season and this time around it seems as though the Reds will need to keep their key players fit for very different reasons as they look to push hard towards the top six.

One man who boss Mark Warburton will be extremely keen to get back in to his team on a regular basis is midfielder David Vaughan, who has seen his season stutter after a couple of niggling injuries.

Vaughan featured in the starting line-up of all nine of Warburton's games as Forest boss last season to indicate that he is highly-rated by the Reds' boss and he would have surely loved to have been able to call upon the Welshman more often over the last couple of months.

Although Vaughan is 34-years-old, Reds fans are delighted that he has been back in full training this week and after missing the game against QPR he could return to the fold this weekend at Birmingham City.

Forest look much more robust in the middle of the park when Vaughan is present and if they are serious about challenging for the top six this season, it seems vital that Warburton ensures he manages how best to get the veteran on the pitch more often than not.

Nottingham Forest fans, are you in agreement that Forest's success is based upon how often David Vaughan features? Let us know in the comments below!!!
