Rumours are circulating on social media that Garry Monk has left Birmingham, and Blues fans can't hide their disbelief on Twitter, however of course, nothing is concrete or confirmed.

Monk has been in charge at St.Andrew's for only a year but has made a real impression on the club.

Despite a number of outgoings and budget constraints during his time - not to mention a 12-point deduction - he has managed to stabilise the club on and off the pitch, resulting in a 17th-placed finish last term.

Plans are in place for next season too, Gary Gardner has joined the club after a successful loan spell last season in a move which was seemingly one which Monk supported.

However, the result of that deal meant that Jota departed, and with rumours that Che Adams could also be on his way to the Premier League it is possible that Monk feels he is being undermined by the board and the lack of support means he is unable to fulfil his role as he wishes.

It is unlikely that Monk would be sacked given the job he has done thus far, but Birmingham let go off Gary Rowett when he was doing a great job, so it isn't unthinkable.

More likely though is that Monk wants out of a club in turmoil, and with a few managerial vacancies open - such as Swansea, Hull and West Brom - Monk may not be out of management for long.

It is potentially bad news for Birmingham fans, and judging from their reactions on Twitter it is the worst news for them to hear.
