There was a fear that when manager Nathan Jones left Luton Town, they might fall away from the League One promotion race.

The impressive rookie had taken the Hatters to the play-off spots in the third-tier and was seemingly set to oversee a successful campaign.

Stoke City had been suitably impressed with his development and snatched him away, leaving the Hatters looking for a new manager.

Rather than panic and make a rush appointment, they brought in former player Mick Harford to oversee the interim period. Under his watchful eye they've won four league matches on the bounce, bettering the successive draws they bagged under Jones.

They've hammered play-off chasing Peterborough, beaten then-leaders Portsmouth and won away at Shrewsbury and Southend, keeping clean sheets in both matches.

It's fair to say Harford, who managed the club in 2008/09 and won the EFL Trophy with them, is doing a grand job. Our FLW panel think that he might be a good shout to stay in the role until the end of the season, certainly if current form is to be considered.

“Sometimes the best choice is right under your nose.

“And in this instance, that rings true at Luton Town.

“Mick Harford has done well in caretaker charge and has earned the chance to get the club to the Championship - at least until the end of the season.

“I see no hard in that and then go again in the summer regardless of which division the side are in.”

"If it’s not broken, then why fix it?

"Jones leaving Luton looked to be a massive blow, but in Harford, they have a man who knows the club and knows what the fans expect.

"He’s gone in there and told them to keep what he is doing and it’s working wonders.

"Keep him until the end of the season."

Jacob Potter

"He deserves a shot.

"Harford has been impressive with Luton and knows the club well and is a like-for-like replacement for Nathan Jones.

"Luton need stability, and he's certainly provided them with that since he took charge, and he could be the man to take them into the Championship this season."
