Tony Pulis looks set to make Middlesbrough strong challengers in the Championship once again after making a handful of top signings this summer.

Paddy McNair has arrived from Sunderland and Aden Flint has moved from Bristol City to make what was already a strong squad even stronger.

But it does not appear that the former Stoke City boss is done just yet.

HITC reported yesterday that Boro were interested in signing Villareal midfielder and former Wolves loanee Alfred N'Diaye.

The Senegalese man spent last season with Nuno Santo at Molyneux and made 37 league appearances as they romped home to the Championship crown.

Wolves had the chance to sign the midfielder permanently this summer but decided against it, leaving him potentially available to other second division sides.

But Boro will face competition from Premier League Cardiff City if they are to land N'Diaye, with Neil Warnock looking to strengthen his side as well.

So would the Villareal man be a good signing for Boro?

We discuss...

Sam Rourke

He'd be a solid signing.

N'Diaye did a good job when called upon at times at Wolves last season, and his combative style of play makes him a perfect Championship player.

Certainly worth a go if it doesn't break the bank.

Jay Williams

N'Diaye is a proven performer at Championship level and he would add legs to the midfield.

Boro need an engine in midfield to replace Mo Besic and N'Diaye could be that man.

I would still prioritise a move for Besic again if I was Tony Pulis but N'Diaye is a good back-up target.

Christian Fuller

Middlesbrough have looked very strong in preseason, so the addition of Alfred N’Diaye would only make them better.

Whether they need him, I’m not so sure. I feel there are other areas of Tony Pulis’ side that should be strengthened more so.

Louie Chandler

Another very solid signing.

Boro already look a good bet for automatic promotion, so adding more quality such as N'Diaye will only make that more likely.
