After a strong start to this campaign, Leeds United have slowly sunk into mid-table mediocrity.

With fans already calling for Paul Heckingbottom’s head, it is only a matter of time before Leeds United make yet another managerial change.

Alan Pardew, recently out of work after his dismissal from West Bromich Albion, praised the Yorkshire club after their strong start to the season, giving plaudits to the work of the new owners – is this a sign of things to come?

While he may not be the ideal candidate after his abysmal showing in his most recent stint in the Premier League, the Whites need a new manager who can guide them back to the top flight.

Having managed the likes of Newcastle United, West Ham United and Southampton amongst others, Pardew has links to higher teams and could help rebuild United’s rickety defence, which has conceded 56 goals this season.

Former Peacocks manager Thomas Christiansen lost his job in February this year with his side sat tenth in the table, only to be replaced by Heckingbottom who is yet to get them up to the standard the Elland Road faithful have come to expect.

Pardew would be a high profile signing for Leeds after their most recent managerial decisions, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it would be the right one.

The 56-year-old won just a single match in his eighteen in charge of the Baggies. He hasn’t succeeded at many of past employers, but a trip into the lower divisions may be his calling.

Leeds face a decrepit Sunderland side at tomorrow afternoon at Elland Road, which could see the Whites drop as low as fifteenth in the league standings, if they fall short against the struggling Black Cats.

Leeds United are in desperate need of change. With the fans frustration boiling over, perhaps the Premier League veteran is a step in the right direction.
