Whether he was dropped due to lack of form or careful management of a key asset by his manager, Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder left striker Billy Sharp on the bench for the midweek win over Brentford, only using the striker from the bench.

With the visit of rivals Leeds United in the early match on Saturday next up for the Blades, Wilder will need to decide whether to start the 32-year-old.

So should Sharp be recalled tomorrow?

Despite not scoring, Conor Washington was phenomenal in the narrow win over Brentford.

But this is a game that Sheffield United need to win and is a fixture that should have their big guns playing.

It will be unfortunate for Washington, but I think Billy Sharp should return to the first-team.

At his age, three games in a week could be a push and Tuesday night could have been tactical to have him fresh for tomorrow’s match.

Gary Hutchinson

Absolutely.

Sharp is a real danger and a player I like immensely.

He’s a natural goal scorer, there’s only ever a few come through at any one time, but he’s definitely that.

If he is fit, he plays.

100%

No disrespect to Washington, who for the record had a sensational game against Brentford, but United need their goalscorers and Sharp is on fire this season.
