Stoke City made a major move in the transfer window yesterday, confirming the £6.35m signing of Nigerian international midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo.

And, that is likely to be the first of many new arrivals at the bet365 Stadium as Gary Rowett looks to make his mark on the squad.

However, as most sides relegated from the Premier League realise, the Potters will also face a huge battle to keep hold of their better players.

The likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Jack Butland are sure to move on but their departures will present Rowett with additional funds to bring new faces in.

Here we look at some incomings and outgoings that would please the supporters in the coming weeks...

Stoke's problem last season was scoring goals and it needs addressing as soon as possible.

Wolves striker Afobe would rectify that problem as he is shown just how capable he is in the second tier over the years.

With excellent movement, good pace and a calm finisher, he could be the man to fire Stoke to promotion.

The reality is that Butland will leave and Stoke will already be lining up replacements.

They have been linked with Dean Henderson but a better option could be another young England stopper - Angus Gunn.

He has already played in the Championship with Norwich and has proven himself to be a quality player at this level and would be a great loan signing from Manchester City if they could finalise it.

The former West Brom striker has been a disastrous signing for Stoke and incredibly has still not scored a league goal even though he joined 18 months ago.

As well as not producing on the pitch, Berahino appears to be a disruptive figure off the pitch and Potters supporters would be delighted to see the back of the expensive mistake this summer.
