Frank Lampard has the tough task of following Gary Rowett's impressive spell at Derby County.

The former England international and Chelsea legend had an excellent playing career, but this is his first senior role in management.

Therefore, this is a big risk for the club as well as a huge opportunity for Lampard.

Rowett has left a strong but ageing squad which needs improving in certain area, but he is severely limited in how much he can spend to improve the squad unless he sells players.

Therefore, loanees will be an important area from which to bolster certain parts and Lampard's Chelsea contacts could pay dividends.

Here are three transfer moves that would improve them substantially...

Hudson-Odoi is one of the most talented youngsters in the Chelsea set-up, which is a significant achievement considering how many prospects they have, and he is only 17-years-old. A loan spell would be a good move for his career and the Championship is an ideal level to challenge him.

He has already made four first-team appearances for Chelsea, with senior opportunities being rare for academy players, so he is clearly rated by Antonio Conte. The 17-year-old can play as an attacking midfielder or as a winger on either side, so Lampard could use him based on the needs of the team.

Roberts is another loanee that could be brought in to improve Derby's wide options, although he is also able to play as a central attacking midfielder. The 21-year-old spent the last two seasons on loan at Celtic from Manchester City, but last season was ruined by injury. He is unlikely to stay there any longer, so a loan spell in the Championship or Premier League is likely to be the next move depending on the clubs interested.

The Championship would be an ideal level for him to show his ability and prove to Pep Guardiola that he deserves a spot in the senior squad. His form during the 2016/17 season with Celtic serves as a remainder of his quality because he scored nine goals and assisted 14 in 32 league games.

Dasilva has been on loan with Charlton for the last season and a half where he has gradually increased in importance because he only made 10 league appearances during his first season, but that increased to 38 last season. He was first-choice left-back for the Addicks by the end of his spell, and he could do the same with the Rams because he is ready for the Championship.

Craig Forsyth struggled at times over last season while Marcus Olsson has major injury issues. Derby have also released Chris Baird, so there is certainly a position open with Dasilva being an excellent candidate. This would only be a short-term solution, but it would be a cheap option at a key time for Derby financially.
