Stoke City will be hoping for an immediate return to the Premier League after their relegation last season but Gary Rowett has been been restricted by injuries to naming a full strength squad.

The likes of Benik Afobe, Tom Ince, Joe Allen and Jack Butland are all regulars in the Stoke team this season but with competition for places and a good amount of depth available to Gary Rowett, he has a tough job on his hands to keep players happy at the club.

Rowett has been tinkering with his side in recent weeks but big name players such as Bojan and Ashley Williams have been limited to just seven starts between them this season.

With their recent 2-0 win over Bolton Wanderers, with almost a full-strength squad available to Rowett, just what would their strongest line up be?

See who would make the strongest Stoke City starting XI here....

The England shot-stopper is the first choice keeper at the club an despite a shaky start to the season, Butland has followed it up with a string of impressive performances this season.

Martina has started seven league games this season and will be hoping he can help his side in their promotion bid. He is keeping academy graduate Tom Edwards out of the side with his impressive performances.

Martins Indi has the ability to be playing at a higher level so it is a real coup for Stoke that he has remained at the club. The Dutch defender has started nine of Stoke's 11 league games this season and is seen as the first choice defender under Gary Rowett.

The former Stoke captain has featured nine times this season and has been partnered with Martins Indi for the majority of the league campaign so far, but has recently been an unused substitute as Ashley Williams currently occupies his spot.

Pieters has become a fans favourite this season, and has already scored twice this season from left back. He scored a stunning goal against West Brom and has played every minute of the season and I can't see him being dislodged from that position by anyone this season.

Woods is currently only on loan at the club, but will make his move permanent in the next transfer window. He was named as captain for his side's 2-0 win over Bolton in midweek and will be confident of cementing his position in the starting XI.

The Welshman was a regular starter for Stoke in the Premier League so there is no doubt in any Stoke supporters minds that Allen should not be starting. He has started every game this season, scoring once so far this season.

Stoke's big money signing has started ten games this season but hasn't scored for the Potters since joining in the summer for a fee of £6.5million. He will be hoping to adapt to the English game quickly and build on some good performances.

Ask any football fan and I don't think they could ever predict Bojan's career path would be to be playing in the Championship- but here he is. He has only started twice and has been used as a substitute seven times this season, after being kept out of the side by Saido Berahino. The Spaniard scored the equaliser for Stoke in a 2-2 draw away to Rotherham and he will be looking to force his way into the side soon.

Ince has been a regular in Gary Rowett's side this season and has started nine league games, scoring three times. Only Benik Afobe has scored more goals this season for Stoke and Ince will be confident of maintaining his excellent form.

Stoke's top goalscorer with four goals has started every game of their league campaign this season and is keeping the likes of Peter Crouch out of the starting XI each week. It is likely that he could move to Stoke permanently after the lack of first team opportunities available to him at his parent club, Wolves.
