Frank Lampard has enjoyed a positive start to life as Derby County manager, with the Rams only outside of the play-offs on goal difference.

Whilst results haven't always been consistent, the Chelsea legend has managed to stamp his influence on the team, encouraging a passing, energetic game.

It all came together in the memorable League Cup win at Old Trafford in what was an almost perfect night for Lampard and the club.

Obviously, the challenge is to replicate that on a regular basis in the league.

To do that, Lampard would like to be able to field a consistent team, but that too is a challenge with the number of quality players he has in his squad.

Here we look at the Rams best XI providing everyone was available...

The experienced keeper is one of the most reliable stoppers outside the top-flight.

The youngster has been a major positive this season, breaking into the team and making the right-back slot his own.

Another experienced figure, Davies has missed virtually all the campaign so far and has been a big miss.

Now returning to fitness, the best centre-back at the club returning will be a major boost for Lampard.

The Ireland man has been playing alongside Tomori in defence and both have been playing reasonably well. However, Keogh just about gets the nod.

Lampard has two good options to choose from at left-back, with Craig Forsyth competing with Malone but the latter's ability going forward means he should start.

The box-to-box midfielder covers the ground well and chips in with goals.

This seemed unlikely at the start of the season but Johnson has formed a solid partnership with Bryson in the midfield and it's working, providing a good balance to the team.

It was a real coup for the Rams to land the Liverpool man on-loan and he has already shown what he is capable of this season, with his free-kick against United particularly memorable.

The fact the youngster has just been called up to the England squad highlights how good he is.

The Wales international has great ability and could be a star at this level.

Derby have so many options up top, but Marriott probably has the best all-round game, with his ability to run in behind.

As well as that, he's a good finisher.
