West Bromwich Albion currently sit fourth in the Championship standings after 11 games, just one point off the summit of the division.

That is a position they held over the weekend before Leeds rose back to the top with a win in midweek whilst the Baggies left it late to rescue a point against Sheffield Wednesday.

After relegation from the Premier League last term, many would have thought the transition to the second tier would be more difficult that it has been.

Consistent team selections and tactics have given West Brom a base to build a brand of football on under Darren Moore.

The remnants of a top-flight side are still at the Hawthorns with many of the players still around that got them relegated, with the sprinkling of new additions with Championship knowledge, and players looking to make a mark in their young careers.

When everyone is fit, Moore has a tough call to make as to who makes the Baggies starting XI.

So with that said, when everyone is fit, on paper, this is the best West Brom XI available to Moore.

A summer capture from Manchester United after a successful loan last season at Aston Villa, he is, without doubt, the best goalkeeper at the club.

Coming back in from the cold to impress, there was a lot of Premier League interest for the defender in the summer, which highlights his quality.

Since Craig Dawson has been back in the side, the Baggies have not lost in the league.

One of the clubs’ better performers last season despite relegation, he has taken to the task of the Championship well and adjusted to the style of play in the second tier.

A summer signing from Swansea, he has been a vital cog in the machine for Darren Moore and is showing why he was much sought in the summer from a host of clubs.

The dynamic winger has the power and pace to patrol the right-hand side and is usually found with a mound of chalk on his boots such is the winger he is.

A player who can create something out of nothing, and tends to pop up from nowhere inside the box to affect matches.

The smooth driving force in the middle of the West Brom team.

His range of passing and knowledge of positioning makes him a standout candidate to play for the Baggies when available.

He is also capable of the ugly side of the game, too,  scrapping and battling to win back possession before starting attacks for West Brom.

A stalwart of this West Brom side, he knows the club and the Championship like the back of his hand and still has a vital part to play in the team’s season.

When he is fit he plays, such is the boost his presence gives the team and the fans.

The former Arsenal man is showing that he can dominate in the Championship.

Marauding down the left-hand side at ease he is a mainstay in this West Brom side and has so much more to offer defensively and going forward to what has already been unleashed this season.

The 20-year-old is the spark in the West Brom attack thanks to his effervescent displays that are beyond his years.

Harvey Barnes is a talent; there is no doubting that, so when he plays he is one of the most effective players in the side.

Six goals this season already from nine starts and one assist.

Dwight Gayle is a certain starter for West Brom when fit and is finding his feet at Championship level after joining on loan.

The second tier is his home, and he will be a constant goalscoring threat throughout the season.

The compliment to Dwight Gayle, with the two of them forming quite the partnership up top for Darren Moore’s men.

Seven goals this season is the reward for fine personal displays, but for his all-round game this is benefitting the team.
