It has been an extremely disappointing season for Stoke City, who will need to rebuild in the summer as they look to clear out some of the deadwood.

Entering the season as promotion favourites with the bookies, many expected Stoke to have a season similar to that of Newcastle in 2016-17, and ease back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

It hasn't been the case for the Potters though, and Gary Rowett was sacked around Christmas time after a terrible run of form.

Nathan Jones took the job and has steadied the ship slightly, but Stoke are still struggling in the bottom half of the table.

He has experimented with formations and different players, but it isn't all clicking together just yet.

With a summer ahead of him though, Nathan Jones and Stoke will hope to go again next season and look to aim for the top six at least.

Many are expected to leave the club, with Diouf, Bojan and Berahino all potentially departing the club this summer due to lack of game time.

This could free up some space for the talented teenage striker Tyrese Campbell, who will have his eyes firmly set on tying down a starting spot next season.

The 19-year-old has spent the last few months on loan at Shrewsbury Town in League One, after his move on January deadline day.

He has netted four goals in 11 appearances for the Shropshire club, and this form will make him feel he can be a regular back over the Shropshire-Staffordshire border.

Since joining from Manchester City's academy, Campbell has excelled at youth level, but he will feel the time is right for him to become a regular first teamer at senior level.

With many strikers set to depart the club, Campbell could definitely convince Jones he is worthy of a chance.

He is tall and strong, holds the ball up well, has a lot of pace, and certainly has an eye for goal, which he has proved in youth football.

He may not become Jones' first-choice striker, but he could certainly be an option.
