Birmingham City head into today's game against Ipswich on the back of two fantastic results that eased any relegation concerns they had.

A nine-point deduction towards the end of March had Blues looking nervously over their shoulder but four points against high-flying Leeds and Sheffield United has given Garry Monk's side a bit of a cushion over the bottom three.

Unsurprisingly, Che Adams has been crucial for the team recently, scoring the winner against Leeds last week.

That took the powerful forward to 22 goals for the season and it seems inevitable that he will depart St. Andrew's in the summer, with a host of top-flight clubs interested.

Not only will he command a big fee that could ease any financial concerns the club have, but the 22-year-old will surely want to move to further his career as he clearly has the ability to play in the Premier League.

Therefore, Blues will already be thinking about how they can replace the ex-Sheffield United man and it's clearly going to be a really big ask.

However, they could have the ideal replacement within their ranks - Isaac Vassell.

The striker joined the West Midlands outfit in the summer of 2017 but he has been extremely unfortunate with injuries since which has restricted the former Luton man to 20 appearances in just under two seasons.

But, he is fully fit now and he has the potential to be a real star at this level.

It's worth noting that Middlesbrough made a move for the player in January despite his injury issues, which highlights just how highly-rated he is.

Whilst he doesn't have the physical power of Adams, Vassell has real pace and can give Blues a threat in behind.

As well as that, he could link up extremely well with Lukas Jutkiewicz.

The target man is a real team player that leads the line well and can hold up the ball to bring others into play and Adams would surely acknowledge his fantastic goal return is in part because of his strike partner.

So, even though losing their star man in the summer is going to be tough for Blues fans to take, it may not be the decisive blow that many fear.

That's because they have Vassell ready to step up and he will be desperate to start making up for lost time after a tough few years.
