Leeds United's player of the season for last year may be on his way from Elland Road as a contract dispute leaves a rift with owner Massimo Cellino.

The 22-year-old Leeds academy product is one of their star players but only has a year left on his contract, and refused a number of contract offers from the club over the summer in pursuit of Premier League football.

A number of top flight clubs are eyeing up a move, however Massimo Cellino has come out fighting, saying he'll refuse to sell Taylor and if he really wants to leave it'll have to be on a free.

It would seem a little crazy not to cash in on Taylor, who is young and English and even with six months left on his contract will be worth a pretty penny.

He could command a sizeable fee, so if he is sold in January, here are THREE perfect replacements.....

James Husband

The former Doncaster Rovers left back is struggling to usurp firm favourite at left back George Friend from the Boro starting eleven, seeing him loaned out to Fulham and Huddersfield most recently.

Aitor Karanka has decided to keep him around the squad this season, but has yet to give him an appearance so far, which could leave his future at the club in doubt.

He's 22 and he's English and has an eye for playing quite high up the pitch, which could make him an ideal replacement for Charlie Taylor, who's style is fairly similar to Husband's.

Daniel Pinillos

The Spaniard has been sidelined for the start of the season at Nottingham Forest, allowing Armand Traore and Danny Fox gateway's into the team.

After joining on a free transfer from Cordoba in 2015, Pinillos quickly established himself as the Forest first choice left back, but will only have six months left on his deal at the club come January.

This could allow Leeds the chance to snap him up fairly cheaply, though Forest will be scrambling to get a deal across the line after the 23-year-old's impressive season last year.

Tyler Denton

Or perhaps Leeds could go with the classic alternative of promoting a player from the academy, which they seem to enjoy doing very much.

Denton could be the readymade replacement for Taylor, having edged closer and closer to the Leeds first team under Garry Monk.

He started for the club in their EFL Cup clash with Luton Town, scoring the winner and putting in an impressive performance.

It wouldn't cost anything for Leeds to give Denton a chance in Taylor's role, and whilst their may be some teething problems initially, it could be a masterstroke move from Monk.
