Stewart Downing has returned to Blackburn as the club announced his signing this afternoon.
✍️ Downing makes #Rovers return!

The former England international was with Rovers last season, impressing and playing 41 Championship games for Tony Mowbray’s side.
Despite that, his deal was up in the summer and no agreement was reached, meaning Downing has been without a club for the past few months.
However, talks over a return have been ongoing and Blackburn confirmed his arrival today, with the left-footer agreeing a new deal to stay at Ewood Park and he is available to play against former club Middlesbrough tomorrow night.
Given the impact he had over the past year, it’s fair to say that news of Downing’s signing went down very well among the support, as they feel the 36-year-old can have a big part to play in their play-off push this season.
Here we look at some of the comments to the deal on Twitter…
Proved many wrong last season and hopefully more of the same this season, what took so long though?

I’m glad about this, but I’m confused – why did we let him leave in the first place? Am I missing something?
