If Bristol City want to keep their top six hopes alive, this is what they must do

Bristol City really made a statement at the weekend as they beat Cardiff City to further boost their own chances of promotion.

The Robins have been flying this season under Lee Johnson and, though they’ll have last year’s slump in mind, there is no reason why they cannot keep things up as they are right now.

For sure, then, it is exciting times for the men from Ashton Gate and the January window could be vital for them, but not for the reason of signing players.

Of course, they’ll probably look to bolster their squad but it’s hard to see where they can realistically improve their first XI unless, of course, someone leaves.

Players like Aden Flint, Joe Bryan and Bobby Reid have all been top class this season and will surely be attracting the attention of other clubs in the Championship and beyond.

Indeed, it’ll be sides with serious financial clout that’ll be swirling, too, and so the Robins will do well to keep hold of them in the January window.

First of all, they need to keep this form up until the market, and then they should be able to persuade any players that offers come in for to stay, just to see where this year takes them.

They’ve got a top team-ethic and bundles of quality laced throughout the side and it’d be a shame to see them unable to fully fulfill their potential.

Keep everyone together in January, though, and they just might.
