Birmingham City have had a tough season this year and Steve Cotterill will surely be looking to add to his squad before the window shuts.

The Blues have found it hard to get away from the relegation zone despite signing some decent players in the summer and now they need to get their business bang on in the remainder of this window.

They do have a potentially decent side, of course, but it still needs a bit more to really be safe from the drop and it'll be interesting to see who Cotterill aims for in the last week or so of the window.

With that in mind, we've been thinking about the loan market and whether the Blues could wrangle something through that.

Here, then, are two loan players the club should look to seal...

Devante Cole

Fleetwood will of course look to keep hold of Cole but you can see him making the step up before too long.

The Cod Army will likely want to hold out for big money but Birmingham should try and strike a deal where they take him on loan - so he can prove himself at this level - with the agreement of a big fee at the end of the period if he does well.

Jack Colback

Colback isn't playing for Newcastle at all but he is an energetic midfielder that could help the Blues in their fight.

He's certainly good enough for the Championship and if he plays well and gets himself in the side regularly there's no reason why this deal could become a permanent one.

He'd surely jump at the opportunity.
