Birmingham City travel north to Lancashire to take on Blackburn Rovers this weekend as Garry Monk’s men look to move closer to the playoff places.

The Blues are looking to make it back-to-back wins on the road after their win over Millwall on their last outing away from St. Andrews.

Michael Morrison is certain to miss out this weekend which will force Birmingham into making at least one change.

Monk’s men are on 30 points after 21 matches and sit 9th in the division ahead of the clash with Tony Mowbray’s promoted side and will be looking to get back to winning ways after defeat last time out.

Bristol City took three points from the Blues last Saturday and Monk will be considering his approach for the trip to Ewood Park tomorrow and how he can manage his side to a vital three points ahead of the busy Christmas period.

With that said, this is certain to be the XI that will look to take down Blackburn Rovers tomorrow afternoon.

The 34-year-old has six clean sheets in 19 Championship appearances this season and is firmly Garry Monk’s number one between the sticks.

The 27-year-old is an ever-present for Birmingham this term and has been one of their hardest working players, and if he continues to feature, Garry Monk’s side could well be serious playoff contenders.

As Michael Morrison’s understudy, effectively, Marc Roberts had had to bide his time and wait for his change after four substitute appearances.

Totally 119 minutes this term in the league, and now is his chance to stake a claim for a continued place in the starting XI.

Another ever-present in a consistent Birmingham City defence will have to cope with a different partner next to him with the absence of Michael Morrison.

Kristian Pedersen is the most used player in Birmingham’s team this term playing 1874 minutes across 21 league matches this term, and he has been one of the club’s best players this season, too.

Connor Mahoney has only played 16 times, eight from the start, and has firmly found himself in favour under Garry Monk.

The 21-year-old has been a breath of fresh air this term and is only getting better.

Gary Gardner has one goal to his name this term but has been one of the main men in the middle of the pitch for Garry Monk’s side this season.

The more defensive of the midfield duo, Maikel Kieftenbeld is the man in the middle of the Birmingham side and has been a key part to Garry Monk’s plan to push towards a playoff push.

Returning to the team in recent weeks, he has been an attacking spark for Birmingham.

The 31-year-old still offers a lot for Garry Monk’s side but above all gives the side the experience it needs.

The nine-goal striker has struck up a prolific partnership with Lukas Jutkiewicz as a pair leading the line for Garry Monk’s side.

Appearing in every league game this term, Che Adams could well hold the keys to driving Birmingham to the playoffs.

Birmingham City’s top scorer with ten goals, his partnership with Che Adams could potentially spearhead Garry Monk’s side to a prolonged campaign past the end of the regular season.
