One of the by-products of Bristol City's sensational run to the semi-finals of the League Cup, which culminates tonight when they host Manchester City at Ashton Gate, is the increased attention on their players.

Having survived relegation at the end of last season, the Robins had interest in Aden Flint only from relegation rivals Birmingham City, with clubs further up the league unwilling to take the punt.

However, Flint has proved himself this season to be a leader, an organiser, an unlikely source of goals and a character off the pitch as well, as the now famous goal GIFs are testament to.

That means that there is now much more interest in securing his services as he has shown what he can do on a higher stage, and also impressed up against Sergio Aguero in the first leg.

Clever recruitment has been a massive factor behind Bristol City's surprise charge up the Championship table this season and Lee Johnson may be forced to make use of that skill again and get a new centre-half in if they lose Flint to a high bidder.

In that instant, the Robins should look to one of the few teams above them in the Championship to fill the void.

Kortney Hause is an incredibly impressive physical defender, with a similar stature to Flint, but has found his first team opportunities limited at Nuno Santo's high-flying Wolves so far this season.

He looks as if he could be a brilliant fit in Johnson's young and high-tempo side and while the Robins will not want to lose Flint, Hause looks to be a ready-made replacement in waiting.
