Blackburn Rovers have been dealt a heavy injury blow, after the club confirmed that centre back Darragh Lenihan is set to miss the next six-eight weeks of the season with a knee injury picked up in his side's 4-2 defeat at QPR on Saturday.

The news comes just a day after on-loan left-back Greg Cunningham revealed that he is going to be out for 'a number of months' with a torn ACL which he suffered in the same match.

Both Lenihan and Cunningham have been key components of Rovers' defence so far this season, meaning both will be a big miss for the club.

Lenihan has started all but one of Rovers' league games this season, while Cunningham has made ten appearances in all competitions since joining from Championship rivals Cardiff City on the final day of the summer transfer window.

As well as losing two key players, this latest update means that Blackburn are now significantly short on numbers in defence.

Derrick Williams, Ryan Nyambe, Amari'i Bell and Manchester City loanee Tosin Adarabioyo are now the club's only recognised senior defenders following the loan of club captain Charlie Mulgrew to Wigan Atheltic, although replacement skipper Elliott Bennett has spent much of the season playing at right-back.

Taking to Twitter to react to the club's update on Lenihan and Cunningham, a number of Blackburn fans appeared far from impressed with the lack of defensive reinforcements the club have left themselves with.

Here, we take a look at what some of those fans had to say.
