According to Football Insider, Derby County are interested in making a late January move for Northampton Town goalkeeper David Cornell.

The 28-year-old featured for Northampton against the Rams on Friday night, as the League Two side forced a replay after holding Phillip Cocu's side to a 0-0 draw at Sixfields.

Cornell has made 100 appearances for the Cobblers since joining from Oldham Athletic in 2016, and has kept nine clean sheets for Keith Curle's side in League Two this term.

But the Welshman now faces an uncertain future at Sixfields with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season, leaving the door open for Derby to make a move.

Football Insider claim that Derby, Ipswich Town and Blackburn Rovers are interested in signing Cornell, who could be allowed to leave on the cheap this month, rather than on a free transfer come the summer.
