A goalkeeper will be high on Birmingham City manager Garry Monk's wishlist this summer with both of their first team shot-stoppers looking set to leave.

David Stockdale has been heavily linked with a move away from St. Andrews whilst Tomasz Kuszczak also wants to leave.

Goalkeepers seem to be high on many clubs' lists this summer with Leeds, West Brom, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United just a few clubs to bring in first choice number ones.

One goalkeeper who still remains unclaimed is former Newcastle United and Brighton player Tim Krul.

Krul rose to prominence at the Magpies during their first season back in the Championship in 2010/11 after relegation in 2009 and went on to make 185 appearances for the club.

His move to Brighton was significantly less successful making just five appearances before being released at the end of the season.

But a man of Krul's experience would surely still be of use in the Championship.

So should the Blues make a move for the Dutchman?

Jay Taylor

Why would they need Tim Krul when they have Tomasz Kuszczek and David Stockdale? The goalkeeping situation is something that isn’t awful at St. Andrews.

Bringing in another keeper will push away the changes of Connal Trueman from getting into the first team.

The only was you could see Krul coming in is if one of Kuszczak or Stockdale go, and that doesn’t look like happening.

Gary Hutchinson

He's certainly a good keeper and age is less of a barrier for a number one.

With their current keeper situation dictating the need for a transfer, I'd say this would be good business.

Jay Williams

If they are so intent on selling David Stockdale, Krul on a free transfer would be an excellent replacement.

The Dutchman has vast experience at the top level and he is a solid all-round goalkeeper.

But I'd stick with Stockdale if I was Garry Monk - I believe the former Brighton stopper will come good.

Louie Chandler

As far as convenient replacements go they will not get better than this.

Krul may have dropped off the pace in the Premier League but he is certainly still good enough for the Championship.

The fact he is free just makes it all the better.
