It was reported on Saturday that Derby County were interested in bringing in Birmingham City left-back Kristian Pedersen on loan, according to the Mirror's transfer blog (21:37, 28/7).

Pedersen remains Garry Monk's only signing of the summer because of a transfer embargo slapped on the Blues for breaking Financial Fair Play rules last season.

But because of this embargo, the Football League have been unable to register Pedersen, meaning Birmingham cannot play their new man.

The left-back was reportedly promised by Monk and Birmingham City that the embargo will be lifted by the opening day of the season, meaning he would be able to play.

But with that looking less and less likely the possibility of loaning him out until the ban is lifted could be being looked into with Derby the first club to register an interest.

Pedersen was signed from Union Berlin for £2million, so being unable to play him is an even bigger blow for the Blues.

But would he be a good signing for the Rams? We discuss...

Gary Hutchinson

It is for Birmingham if they can’t play him at the weekend!

I’m certain Pedersen will be a good Championship player and if the Blues can’t play him they may as well loan him out.

After sorting out the attacking midfield and striker positions, Frank Lampard needs to turn his attention to his defence.

A centre-back and a left-back are needed and Pedersen fits the bill as an attack-minded, promising left-sided defender who would provide a short-term solution for the Rams.

However, I would prioritise a move for Joe Bryan instead if I was Lampard.

Jay Taylor

It would make sense considering he isn’t registered with Birmingham yet due to their transfer embargo.

If they want him to be able to play and are unable to do it themselves, let him go on loan.

He is a talent and it will only do the Blues good if they let him get regular first team football.

Chris Gallagher

I'm not so sure.

He is clearly a talented player and it would be smart to take advantage of Birmingham's situation but I'd keep with Max Lowe at left-back.

He's had a good pre-season and should be good enough for the upcoming campaign.
