Lee Tomlin has a great impact at Forest when he signed on loan from Cardiff in January, scoring four stunning goals and assisting three more.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a move back to the city ground, with Karanka claiming the forward wanted to stay at the end of last season.

But do Forest even need him?

Nottingham Forest clearly mean business as they build a squad they hope can challenge for promotion this season, having brought in Joao Carvalho from Benfica as well as other attacking loans from Benfica and Monaco.

Tomlin can dazzle and frustrate in equal measure, so should Forest make a permanent move for him?

We discuss...

Alfie Burns

At the right price, I’d bring Tomlin back on board for his experience.

Karanka knows and trusts Tomlin, which will mean he’s still in the Spaniard’s thoughts.

Of course, Forest won’t want to pay silly money for Tomlin, but either on-loan or on the cheap, he’d be a good addition.

George Dagless

I'd say go for him.
Tomlin might not get a start straightaway with the influx of new players but what if these great talents can't adapt to the league?
It shouldn't be an issue for players that good but experience is also vital in the Championship and so having Tomlin on the books wouldn't be a bad idea.

Gary Hutchinson

Forget about him, I was surprised they'd even bothered in the first place. No disrespect to Tomlin, he's a decent professional, but he isn't the sort of player who is going to earn you promotion to the top flight.
He should be at Sunderland or somewhere like that, a down at heel side looking for a few goals and a bit of grit. Forest can, and will, do better.

Chris Gallagher

Not now.
They've brought in Joao Carvalho who will be the main attacking midfielder and the team will be built around him.
Therefore, there's no need for Tomlin. He is another luxury player and not as good as the former Benfica man.
