Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer has enjoyed a great start to the season, following the Addicks' return to the Championship, currently sitting in third spot in the table on 11 points and unbeaten in five league matches.

It is this fine start to the season that has installed Bowyer as favourite to take over at struggling Huddersfield Town, who have had a shocking start to the season and currently languish in 23rd spot with only a single point to their name.

So what should Bowyer do here? Should he make the switch from Charlton to Huddersfield Town if an offer arises?

We discuss........

Josh Cole

“Whereas a move to Huddersfield is by no means a step-down, it may be wise for Bowyer to avoid the temptation to leave Charlton.

“Since taking over at The Valley in 2018, the 42-year-old has enjoyed a fine start to his managerial career which has won over the Addicks’ fan-base.

“After securing promotion from League One earlier this year, Bowyer has since overseen a promising start to the current campaign at Charlton with the club currently unbeaten after five league games.

“Although the season is still very much in its infancy, you get the sense that Bowyer is building something special in south-east London and thus it would be naïve to move to a Huddersfield side who are currently in disarray.”

Louie Chandler

"I'd probably steer clear.

"Huddersfield is obviously a more appealing club to work for at the moment and I mean no disrespect to Charlton in saying that.

"But considering the way each club is run, I suppose you could argue it is a no brainer for Bowyer.

"However, there will be a lot of pressure on him at the John Smith's stadium and I suspect it would be better for him to continue the work he is doing at the Valley for the rest of the campaign, rather than severing ties now."

"I don't think so, no. He's made a great start, and since summer's fiasco, he seems to have settled again at Charlton.

"Obviously, I don't know the ins and outs of the relationship between Bowyer and Roland Dutchatelet but that would be the only thing that would see Bowyer leave.

"He has a great, young and hungry team at Charlton, and there seems to be quite the opposite at Huddersfield. If he is to leave I think it could see Charlton sinking, whilst it would take a lot of hard-work to turn around the Terriers."
