Birmingham City fan pundit Jack Blenkiron has told Football League World that he wants the club to sign Lyle Taylor to replace Che Adams if he moves on this summer.

FLW revealed on Tuesday that Newcastle United were still interested in the 22-year-old, but Blenkiron has faith that the Charlton ace has the quality to make the step up.

"As a replacement, I’d love to see us take a punt on Lyle Taylor from Charlton," the regular punter told Football League World.

"There are free agents like Gary Hooper floating around, but his injury record isn’t great.

"Taylor would cost nowhere near the fee we’d get for Che, and I’m sure he would be a suitable replacement."

The former AFC Wimbledon man netted 25 times last season, playing a huge role in the club's promotion-winning campaign.

Scoring 20+ goals in League One and doing the same in the Championship are two different things, however.

But Blenkiron does not believe it will sting too much when the sale comes given the club's precarious financial history.

"I think most of us are resigned to seeing Che depart this summer," he told Football League World.

"We need to raise finances to avoid another points deduction and let’s be honest, he’s deserved the chance to show the World what he’s capable of.

"Realistically, we should be demanding £25m for him, but we’ll probably get around £15m, we turned down four Burnley bids in January just short of that price.
