Sheffield Wednesday have appointed Darren Moore as their new manager, the club have confirmed this morning.

The 46-year-old has left Doncaster to become the new manager of the Owls, making the surprise move across Yorkshire.

Moore guided Donny to ninth in League One before the season was curtailed last term, and this season, he has had the club fighting for a play-off place.

With Donny sitting sixth in the League One table as it stands, Moore has now made the shock decision to leave the Keepmoat Stadium, and arrive at Hillsborough hoping to steer Wednesday away from relegation.

Here, we discuss this managerial appointment...

Phil Spencer

I think that this could prove to be an excellent appointment.

Darren Moore is one of the top managers in the EFL, in my opinion, and so I think that he could be a good appointment for the club.

Of course he faces a massive challenge.

I don't think that Moore should be judged on whether he can avoid relegation, as with just 14 games left it seems likely that they'll go down.

But if the Owls can back him to lead the club next season then I think that they'll be in good hands.

Ned Holmes

This is a fantastic appointment for Wednesday, in my eyes.

Moore is a manager that I have a huge amount of respect for and I think he was really unfortunate to lose his job at West Brom a few years ago.

What he's done at Doncaster Rovers since has been impressive and I have no doubt that he's capable of turning things around at Hillsborough.

They need someone to breathe fresh life into the club and though that won't be easy, Moore could well do that.

It's a risk for him because the club looks a proper risk at the moment but he's backing himself to step up and you have to respect that.

I'd love to see him succeed and keep Wednesday up.

Chris Thorpe

I think it's a great appointment for Wednesday but it is by no means something I expected to see.

He's been working wonders at Donny this season and did really well at West Brom as everyone knows, so I think it will be intriguing to see how he gets on at Hillsborough.

He'll bring an attacking style of play and will to win that the Owls have been crying out for in these past few months.

Whether he can keep them up or not is another matter entirely and it's certainly a race against time already.
