David Moyes is the latest name in the frame to take over at Aston Villa, with the former Manchester United manager appearing in several news reports this morning as likely to pick up where Steve Bruce left off.

Moyes was once the darling of English football, his work at Preston and Everton had Sir Alex Ferguson hand picking him as the next manager of Manchester United, a man to carry on a legacy and a legend. He failed.

Ever since then Moyes has been the unlucky loser, the man who could never have succeeded at United and who has lived with the stigma ever since. An odd move to Spain followed, but his Real Sociedad spell wasn't fruitful.

Since then he's struggled to make an impact, taking Sunderland down and failing to impact West Ham either. That has left him out in the cold at the moment, but with a Villa move looking possible.

Would it be a wise move by Aston Villa? Our FLW experts discuss.

Louie Chandler

Not as bad a fit as a lot of Villa fans are making out.

He is an experienced manager but has hardly shone in the Championship in the past.

Villa could surely do better.

George Dagless

Wow, i'd be shocked.

Moyes, for me, is still an okay manager but this is not the right move for Villa.

He'll get absolutely battered from the get-go by a fan base eager for a fresh and dynamic approach from someone new.

Moyes could do a good job at another club but I don't think Villa is the right one.

Gary Hutchinson

I'm seriously worried for Aston Villa. The names being suggested get increasingly bizarre.

Moyes? The man who relegated Sunderland? The man who failed at West Ham?

There would be an awful lot of very unhappy Aston Villa fans, that is for sure.
