Bolton Wanderers' season trundles on, with the Trotters on the verge of relegation to League One, currently 10 points from safety with only four matches of their season remaining, ahead of the visit of Aston Villa on Friday afternoon.

In a season mired with off the field issues including winding up petitions, player strikes over unpaid wages and questions remaining over the sale of the club, it will be concerning to fans that the players would be entitled to walk out on the club if they so wished, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

So in light of the turmoil engulfing Bolton, should the players walk away from the club?

We discuss........

George Harbey

"I honestly would not blame them one bit.

"The off-field problems are an absolute shambles, and regardless of how good they are at football, they should be paid for their jobs.

"This needs sorting, otherwise their time at League One could be even worse than this season."

Gary Hutchinson

“Absolutely.

“The farcical situation is an affront to the players, staff and fans.

“Supporters can’t walk away, as much as they’d like, but for the players they have things at stake. Mortgages, kids, family.

“If they’re not getting paid then they should hop it, find another club and leave the Trotters to sort the mess out anyway they can.”

Jacob Potter

"I’d already be out the exit door.

"I’m amazed that they haven’t walked away from the club yet, as there must be something stopping them.

"The club is in turmoil at the moment, and it’s a real shame to see the off-the-field problems having an impact with performances on the pitch.

"They look certain to be relegated and you can expect a mass clear out in the summer."
