Huddersfield Town have been nervously looking over their shoulders this season as they look to avoid back-to-back relegations, with their latest outing plundering them further into trouble.

The Terriers have been struggling under Danny Cowley this season and they are sat just outside the relegation zone following their 2-0 defeat away to Leeds United last weekend.

February saw a string of somewhat positive results from the Terriers culminating in a 4-0 thumping of fellow relegation rivals Charlton Athletic, with Karlan Grant grabbing the spotlight with a brace against his former club.

A trip to Elland Road was on the cards after that and they made the short journey in high spirits as their recent record against the Whites there gave them every right to. Two goals early in each half saw the hosts take all three points deservedly and see Danny Cowley's men move to within just three points of the relegation zone.

Here, we take a look at four of the biggest stories from the John Smith's Stadium this week...

The problem that looks like taking over the globe at the moment is Coronavirus, with a number of high profile cases creeping into the footballing world at an exponential rate.

The EFL have cancelled all action in the Championship until the weekend of the 4th April, which has cast Huddersfield's season into doubt about whether they will be able to push for survival or will see the season delayed or even scrapped.

The Terriers' top scorer this season with 16 league goals to his name, mostly from the left-wing as he looks to fire the side to Championship survival.

His efforts have not gone unnoticed, however, as he has been strongly linked with a potential transfer away, as midlands rivals West Brom and Aston Villa remain interested in his signature,  according to Sky Sports.

Following the clash against Nottingham Forest back in mid-February, Danny Cowley's assistant Nicky was charged with misconduct for allegedly using 'abusive and/or insulting words'.

The club released a brief statement on the matter backing the number two and will be continuing to give him their full support going forward.

The Terriers fell to defeat just under a week ago against Leeds and Cowley was keen to comment on the fact that this game won't define their season going forward. He had this to say to the club's official website: “Games like this, while it was really important for us and our supporters, it wasn’t going to define our season.

“We have a big game now this Saturday against Wigan. We’re enjoying our work at the moment; we feel that we’re moving in the right direction.

“We’ll take learning from today, come back stronger from it and look to put a positive performance in at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday."
