Leeds United striker Eddie Nketiah scored the winner on his Championship debut against Brentford last night and Arsenal legend Ian Wright was at Elland Road to celebrate.

Nketiah joined Leeds on loan from the Gunners this summer and has made a fast start at the club, scoring on his debut for the under-23s, the senior side and in his first game in the league.

The 20-year-old calmly put away a cross from Helder Costa after a quick Leeds break in the 81st minute to grab the winner against the Bees and keep the Whites top of the Championship.

Wright is clearly a big fan of the young Arsenal striker and has taken to Twitter to praise him for his exploits previously.

His celebration of this goal was a lot more elevated, however, as the former Gunners forward was at Elland Road to watch the game and posted his reaction on Twitter.

Nketiah has shown early promise for the Yorkshire club and gives Marcelo Bielsa a selection headache moving forward.

His other striking option, Patrick Bamford, has also been in goalscoring form this season, scoring three goals in his first four games.

It is a good problem to have for the Argentine coach and it will be interesting to see how he approaches their visit to Stoke City on Saturday.

The Verdict

The Whites are notoriously a club that are disliked by other fans and supporters of the Yorkshire club will surely love to see Wright celebrating a Leeds goal in the stands at Elland Road.

The ex-England striker’s reaction probably reflects the feelings of many Arsenal fans, who will likely be hoping Nketiah and Leeds succeed this season.

Leeds have two strikers who have shown goalscoring form at the start of the season and I am intrigued to see how Bielsa deals with that situation.

It will no doubt excite fans that the Whites boss has suggested that they could play together.
